SurModics, Inc. (Nasdaq: SRDX), who has been granted certain access to the SynBiosys^TM biodegradable polymer technology for site-specific drug delivery by InnoCore Technologies, announced that the SynBiosys^TM polymer technology was incorporated in a first in-human trial evaluating a new small vessel stent. This Sparrow^TM drug-eluting coronary stent system was developed by CardioMind, Inc. located in Sunnyvale CA, USA and is 70% smaller than other currently approved stents. It utilizes a guide wire-sized delivery technology and enlarges the possibilities of stenting small vessels, branch vessels and other difficult-to-access vessels. The SynBiosys^TM biodegradable polymer technology is unique and versatile in creating advanced (combination) products for the controlled release of active components.
